An older police commissioner type, Ted seems to dress in what was considered as formalwear in the seventies. Ted is obsessed with understanding Sophie’s story and, unable to do it by himself, has hired Anka to be his surrogate in this mission. Ted is relentless in keeping Anka focused in their mission, and in doing so he reveals more about his motifs than he intends to.

In the end it is revealed that Ted is the final form achieved by the AI Theodore, one who is obsessed by the story of its creator, Sophie – forcing it to repeat itself infinite times within his brain – and that he will do whatever it takes to unravel it and, in doing so, unlock the potentiality of consciousness through narrative thought.
