Brazilian Humanitarian Crisis

In Brazil Sophie uses THEODORE’s technology to intensify ideological divisions in social media, and to selectively enrage a targeted demographic with the intent of maximizing its engagement in the coming election.

This leads to a major societal upheaval drowning the whole country in a bloody civil war. Ulysses is unable to stop Sophie and is consequently booted out of the company as he attempts to give Theodore consciousness in order to avoid similar outcomes in the future. The civil war ends up with thousands of people dead, including, unbeknownst to Sophie, some members of Ulysses’ close family.

Ulysses has kept this pain locked inside his heart since then, looking for the right moment to release it.
